On Being an Orthodontist

Orthodontics is about changing lives, one person and one smile at a time. It’s about straightening teeth and improving a person’s oral health, and it’s about the self-confidence that results when a person knows their smile is incredible. Being in a profession where I transform lives by using leading-edge treatments, science, and art, along with working with my hands, is both challenging and rewarding.

Each day, I spend time with so many interesting people, with diverse personalities, experiences, and interests, all while making a positive difference in their life. No wonder being an orthodontist doesn’t feel like work to me! I truly enjoy every minute spent caring for and being with my patients.

Whether I am caring for a child, an adolescent, or an adult, I love the lasting relationships that develop. We share stories and learn from each other; each day offers fascinating conversations and lots of laughter. What a joy it is to be an orthodontist!

Education and Commitment to Continuing Education

  • Bachelor of Science - University of Pennsylvania
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery - University of Maryland
  • Master of Science - Columbia University
  • Orthodontic Residency - Columbia University

Orthodontics is an ever-evolving discipline, with new technology, methodologies, and materials constantly being developed and made available to professionals. It is essential that I stay abreast of these changes in order to determine which are appropriate to use in my practice. It is my goal that my patients receive the highest quality of care possible.

I regularly attend meetings and seminars, as well as read relevant journals and publications from the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association, to ensure I provide the best treatment for my patients. To do anything less is simply not an option.

Personal Life

I’m a native of New City, NY, and now call Pleasantville my home, along with my husband David and our two sons, Ryan and Brett. We also share our lives with our dog, Charlie. When I’m not in the office, my time is centered on being with family and friends. I love playing with Charlie, too, as well as going to the beach and enjoying music.
